The 2000s were an era many people say it should be in the history books. I was born on July 13th, 2002 with the name Dalaya Richardson growing up as a baby and child glued to the television screen, obsessed with all the amazing things I saw child actors do. Being jealous that many of them got slimed at the Kids Choice Awards and all Disney Channel stars got to do a cool wand trick and say their real name on national television before their series aired.
I always wanted that in the early 2000s, I remember taking dance classes for many years and a short stint with acting classes so I could become a child star myself. None of it lasted long after reading magazines and watching the local news about my favorite child stars being mistreated in the industry. I gave up acting due to nerves of being mistreated as well and also the lack of confidence. I continued with the dancing lessons until I was nine; it was fun and I made friends.
As I got older my interest in the entertainment industry grew but my interest in dance declined .In the early 2010s, I wrote my first entertainment review about the Disney Channel series “Jessie.” I enjoyed writing after I was praised for my book “The Baby Jolea” I wrote in first grade for a writing contest. Unfortunately, I lost the book and didn’t win the contest but I didn’t stop writing.
“The Baby Jolea” is a book about playing with my baby cousin Jolea for the first time and my “Jessie” review had me writing more. I also entered another writing contest when I moved to King of Prussia writing a John Hughes-type story (my favorite writer of all time) about a couple of middle schoolers with different backgrounds becoming friends at a carnival. I entered the contest at the Upper Merion Library when I was in seventh grade. That also didn’t win but I never gave up on my writing.
In late 2024 getting ready to graduate college next year I plan on branching out my writing even more with writing pieces about changes that need to be made in the world. One of them is replacing child stars with AI.
In 2025 I plan to continue my writing and look for a full-time job I cherish, as well as moving out before the summer of 2025. In the future, I want to help children after many working at a summer camp I also want to become a mother hopefully to a girl named Alyssa Amy or a boy named George Bailey named after my favorite characters from my favorite films “Chasing Amy” and “Its a Wonderful”
Starting college in the spring of 2023, It made me enjoy so many things not only writing. I see many events happening in my future and I can’t wait to enjoy them. I plan on writing pieces on my disability Asperger, and mental disorders depressive episodes, and anxiety. My college chapter is ending but career is about to begin!
